It's summer time here, scorching hot, sun is high the whole day, bright and the prickly heat burns the skin. You would want to shower every minute of your existence. A day here in my mom's garden observing her 'babies' is a time for a bit of reflection. Looking at the greens and flowering blooms eases the very humid weather. Her lively garden is such a peaceful sanctuary to clear out thoughts and have a day to with the earth. In the midst of these shiny, hues of green leaves a blooming Mandevilla flower exists. It's color pops out amongst the surrounding greenery. I can't help but be attracted. Observing its value shifts inspired me to take up my brushes and set up an oil paint palette to work on.

While painting I filmed the process for you to also enjoy and explore painting a simple color palette. Flowers can be tricky to paint. Could be intimidating at times. Just starting to paint will free up worries of perfection. Remember to always paint for fun and creativity.
I'm grateful for the time spent in mom's garden. To be led upon to sit, gather art materials, paint and observe the blooming flower is having a deeper understanding with our connection to the earth. To not just see but understand how color works. Its a contemplative space to be in.
I have put up a guide for you to follow and explore painting this wonderful flower.

Alternatively, you can also watch the demo here so you can follow along. I would love to know how your painting goes. Let me know in the comments.
